The Lircay Plant is connected to the Central Interconnected System (CIS) to supply energy to consumers.
Designed with the best qualified technology on the market, it structure includes an intake, a headrace channel of 3 km., a flow rate of 25 cubic meters per second, a penstock, a powerhouse with two Francis turbines with horizontal Andritz axis / Vatech MW of 9.7 each and a substation of 6.6/66 kV.
It also has a transmission line of 27 km. long to evacuate the energy generated by CIS through the Maule substation.
Central Lircay is registered with a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), according to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). According with this international environmental treaty, Lircay reduces the anual CO2 emissions to 53.000 tons.
